G.R.I.T. Academy- Now Open!

The G.R.I.T. Academy Is Open — And I'm Booking for 2026–2027
There were nights I did my homework by starlight.
My mother had ordered every light in the house turned off. No lamp, no television, no music. She would walk into my room and flip the switch, and I would tell her I was working, and she would tell me to keep them off — or else. So I looked around that dark room until I found the window, and I decided the starlight was enough light to finish.
I was sixteen when I was put out of my home at Christmas. I ended up in a homeless shelter, and in that shelter I had a decision to make. I could collect excuses and live off them for the rest of my life, or I could treat that place as somewhere to start over.
I chose to try until something changed, instead of failing to try.
That decision is the reason there is a framework. It is the reason there is an Academy. And today, I'm telling you the doors are open.
What G.R.I.T. actually means
Grit is Great Resilience in Time. It is not about being perfect. It is about not giving up.
It rests on four pillars, and every one of them can be learned:
Growth Mindset — your ability isn't fixed. Effort is the path, and struggle is the proof you're on it.
Resilience — not the absence of falling. The habit of getting back up a little faster each time.
Self-Efficacy — the belief that you can do this, built deliberately, never just wished for.
Time Management — big problems become solvable when you break them into steps you can take today.
I didn't build this framework in a research lab. I built it out of what I had to do to survive, and then I spent years testing it in classrooms, in churches, in boardrooms, and on stages, and watching it work for people whose circumstances looked nothing like mine.
What I'm booking right now
The calendar for 2026–2027 is open, and here is what I'm taking:
Keynote speaking. Conferences, leadership summits, commencements, company events. "The Power of Grit" is the talk that came out of TEDxOcala, and I tailor it every time — a room full of first-year teachers and a room full of executives need the same framework delivered two different ways.
Professional development. Custom PD for staff, faculty, and leadership teams. Single sessions or full programs across a semester or a year. This is where the framework stops being inspiring and starts being operational.
G.R.I.T. trainings. Half-day, full-day, or multi-session. Built around your people and what they're actually up against, not a canned deck I carry from city to city.
Book studies. A guided Stop Surviving, Start Thriving study for your team, cohort, or leadership circle; workbooks and discussion built in.
Executive and team coaching. One-to-one and small group, for leaders who need to build resilience and follow-through at the top and don't have anyone to be honest with about it.
Who this is for
Schools and districts. Universities. Churches and ministries. Companies and executive teams. Nonprofits. Conferences.
If you lead people who are tired, and most people who lead people are leading tired people right now, this is for you.
I've worked with educators across the country on equity, resilience, and closing the achievement gap. I've stood in front of congregations and in front of boards. The through-line is the same everywhere: people don't need to be told to try harder. They need a framework, and they need someone to point at the starlight.
The resources are here too
Alongside the speaking and training, the full library is available : the G.R.I.T. workbook series, written for specific callings rather than a general audience. There's one for teachers, one for principals, one for nurses, one for law enforcement, one for clergy, one for single moms, one for single dads, one for teens. There are faith-based teaching series and journals. There's the G.R.I.T. Master Class, and the online course that walks the four pillars one at a time.
And there's the free assessment, if you just want to see where you're starting from. It takes about two minutes.
Let's talk
If you have an event, a staff, a congregation, or a team that needs this; reach out. Tell me about your people and what you're hoping they walk away with, and we'll build something that fits.

I'm a three-time University of Florida graduate, a mother of two, a TEDx speaker, and a national education consultant. But mostly I'm the girl who did pre-calculus by starlight and decided that was enough light.
If she could get through that, your people can get through this. Let me come show them how.
Stay gritty.
